Thabo Bester, infamously referred to as “Facebook Rapist” in the social media fraternity was detained once more by the Tanzanian Law Enforcement agencies in collaboration with South African Law Enforcement Agencies on Friday evening in Tanzania,East of Africa.

Official reports state that Bester was busted by authorities in Tanzania, East Africa alongside his alleged “partner in crime”, Dr Nandipha Magudumane as well as a Mozambican national. This breakthrough comes as a result of an Interpol red notice being issued earlier on.
A picture has been making rounds on social media of a man who is alleged to be Thabo Bester adorning an Islamic Headwear, this is deemed to have been an attempt by the fugitive to mingle with the Muslim community in Tanzania in a bid not to be identified. It has been reported that the trio were enroute to Kenya (approximately 10 Kilometers away from the Kenyan border) when they were halted and detained by the authorities.

The question might now be, ‘what next?’ The South African government through it’s relevant departments such as the Justice and Police ministry is anticipated to head to the East African country to facilitate either the deportation or extradition of Mr Bester and Mrs Magudumana. Subscribing to Tanzanian legislation,  the government of Tanzania will guide the procedure as to what ought to take place given that the duo were illegally within the jurisdiction of the country at the time of their  arrest. 

BACKGROUND:

Thabo Bester,infamously referred to as the “Facebook Rapist” gained popularity on social media when it was discovered that he used Facebook as a medium through which he enticed “attractive young ladies” with false prospects of assistance and elevation when it comes to their aspirations of working in the entertainment and modeling industry ,only for him to assault, rob and rape them. 

THE FACEBOOK RAPIST :
Bester was then trialed in 2011 and 2012, where he pleaded guilty to two charges of rape and one of murder, eventually leading to him being sentenced to life imprisonment. Fast forward to a decade later,2022, reports were that he had been burnt to death  as a result of  a fire breakout at the Mangaung maximum security prison during the month of May.

DEAD?
It has been assumed that Bester had succumbed to death as a result of that fire breakout, only for the results of the DNA analysis to confirm that the body of the deceased which was discovered, was not of the “Facebook Rapist”. This implied that Thabo Bester had not passed away, but that Thabo Bester has ran away. 
Speculations were rife that employees of the security company G4S, responsible for security at the prison had collaborated with him to ensure that he escaped.
FASTFORWARD TO 2023 :
Bester and Magudumana had been in hiding since they were both captured purchasing groceries at a local grocery story by a civilian.
